PROJECT SUMMARY

“The Favor” is a short comedy about when the angel of death, archangel Azrael, comes to collect an unsuspecting Tiffany Hunt. Tiffany, surprised that it is her time to go, attempts to delay the inevitable. Will she succeed?

PROJECT MISSION

The intended impact of “The Favor”, is to create a dialogue about death, contemplate what we are doing with our time here on earth and is anyone ever “Ready” to go when their time ends and deliver this intention in form of comedy.

“Wanjiru Njendu is an award-winning director based in Los Angeles. Her creative imagination earned her the nickname ‘Magic’ at a young age. Her African and American upbringing influences her approach as a writer and director for film and television enabling her to have a versatile voice in both African stories and Western stories. This versatility led to her being chosen as a fellow in the Producer’s Guild of America Diversity workshop. Wanjiru’s film credits include several award-winning short films which have played in over 100 film festivals. She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).”

“April is a screenwriter from South Central Los Angeles. Her debut award nominated and Oscar qualifying short film that she wrote “#whereisbeauty”, has screened at film festivals all over the US and internationally. She has worked behind the scenes for many years in Production Accounting on such projects as “Blade Runner 2049”, “Booksmart”, and “Transparent”.”

“After completing his term of service in the Air Force, David Lawson Jr. attended Michigan State University where he continued his personal growth. He has since brought the values and friendships he made along the way to Los Angeles, where since 2005, he has been working his way up the commercial and feature film ranks. with long-time collaborators Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, he formed RUSTIC FILMS. His features include SOMETHING IN THE DIRT, BREATHING HAPPY, SYNCHRONIC, THE ENDLESS, AFTER MIDNIGHT, TRASH FIRE, 68 KILL, 24X36: A MOVIE ABOUT MOVIE POSTERS, SPRING, and RESOLUTION.”

Not long after moving to NYC, Thomas was cast in lead roles in several world renowned Off-Broadway plays, such as Tennessee Williams’ Orpheus Descending, Jaoui & Bacri’s Cuisine & Dépendances, and Dumas’ La Dame Aux Camélias. His role of gang leader Dick Seguin in the cable series Blue Moon gave him the opportunity to show his talent on TV. He has booked several lead roles in other series and movies since.”

His work includes We’re All Gonna Die by Rocketjump duo Freddie Wong and Matt Arnold; All Creatures directed by Collin Schiffli, starring David Dastmalchian (Suicide Squad, Blade Runner 2049, The Dark Knight) and Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jumanji); Three Days In August by Johnathan Brownlee; Upstream Color by Shane Carruth.”

“Dara Taylor emerged as a fresh voice in the world of scoring music to picture as evidenced by her score to the Lionsgate comedy Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar starring Kristen Wiig and Jamie Dornan, co-composed with Christopher Lennertz. As a score producer and composer for Chris Lennertz, Dara has contributed to major motion picture films and series including Bad Moms, the action-comedy sequel Shaft, Amazon’s highly acclaimed television series The Boys, Netflix’s sci-fi series Lost in Space, The Happytime Murders, Uglydolls, and the long-running CW show Supernatural. Dara scored Amazon Studio’s The Tender Bar, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker George Clooney. Dara is a member of the The Recording Academy (Grammys).”
